Who will win the AL East?

by Scooter on 12/30/2009 in MLB News

The Yankees have added a plus center fielder while the Red Sox added a strong arm (John Lackey) to their rotation and an aged outfielder Cameron. Both teams have made upgrades, but still have question marks.

The Yankees will be testing Brett Gardner in LF and may acquire a veteran left fielder, while the Red Sox need a LF of their own and some relief pitching.

The Yankees are younger and the Red Sox aged a little with Cameron, but who will make it to the top of the east and capture the AL East crown?

My bet is the World Series Champs, but nothing is guaranteed in baseball, regardless of how much a team spends. Theo Epstein has made some what of a splash this winter and so has Cashman.

In my opinion, I believe both teams are still not done acquiring players. The Yankees have Jermaine Dye on the radar and the Red Sox lost out on Jason Bay who apparently has agreed with the Mets.

Both teams make baseball exciting regardless of the bad blood between fans. If it wasn’t for the Yankees and the Red Sox, baseball would be like the heavyweight division in boxing.

Who do you think will capture the AL East?

the yankees will definitly win the al east this year. In my opinion the yankees have just as good rotation as the red sox. And a way better offense then the sox. There are still valuable free agents on the market and at this point i really beleieve either the yanks or the sox will try to make some type of move on holliday or aroldis chapman.

    Billy,

I think the Yankees will stay away from Holliday and wait for Crawford next year. Chapman is still not proven and the price is a bit to high for him.

    Commish,

I agree with you 100%. The only circumstance i would want Chapman on the Yankees was if they traded Joba or Hughes, and since they are going no where i don’t want Chapman at all. I also agree with you on Crawford, we should wait till next year instead of getting Holliday now.

    Teasa,

That’s a good bet as they’re a little better than the 2009 team.
