There is no timetable for his return to the New York lineup. Granderson is off to a dismal start and now he is on the DL. Granderson is batting .225 with 2 Homeruns, 7 RBI, 10 Runs and 4 Stolen Bases.

Did the Yankees give away the farm? So far, it looks that way with Austin Jackson having a great start for the Detroit Tigers. Ajax is batting .356 with 1 Homerun, 7 RBI, 21 Runs and 5 Stolen Bases.

Austin Jackson went 5 for 5 as the Tigers beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-6 on Friday. Jackson became the first Tigers rookie with five hits in a game since the player he replaced, Curtis Granderson, did it on Sept. 18, 2005. He is hitting .364 and leads the AL in hits.

I wasn’t pleased with the Yankees letting their top prospect go and getting Granderson which will cost the Yankees $25.75MM guaranteed over the next three years.

Curtis is one of the best guys in baseball hands down, but he has been in serious decline since 2007. You can look up his stats. Outside of the spike in HR last year, he has done nothing to suggest that he’s going to be worth the money the Yankees paid.

Let’s hope Granderson comes back with vengeance and can start hitting lefty pitching better.

The baseball season is finally here! The Yankees and Red Sox open the 2010 season at Fenway Park tonight with two studs on the mound. Josh Beckett and CC Sabathia will face off against each other in what should be an exciting game for both cities.

This is one of, or not the biggest rivalry in sports. What makes these two teams so special is their will to win. The New York Yankees will begin to defend their championship.

Boston’s Josh Beckett and Yankees ace CC Sabathia will make their second consecutive opening-day starts in what is expected to be unseasonably warm weather.

Alex Rodriguez, who missed the first 28 games last year after hip surgery will come out of the gate healthy and ready. The Yankees will also have newly acquired Curtis Granderson and Nick Johnson in the lineup tonight. Nick Johnson is listed day to day and hopefully he will be at DH tonight.

Boston will feature first timers Mike Cameron and Adrian Beltre. The Red Sox made excellent moves this off season both offensively and defensively.

This will be the fourth time in 26 years that the rivals have met in the opener. New York won the last two in 1992 and 2005, both in Yankee Stadium. Boston won at Fenway Park in 1985 and is opening the season at home for just the third time since 1996.

Are we ready for some baseball? I am excited and can’t wait for the 2010 season to begin.

The Yankees outfield would look like Curtis Granderson, Carl Crawford and Brett Gardner. The other possible outfielders are Nick Swisher and Jamie Hoffmann for depth.

MLBTradeRumors.com: Rays owner Stuart Sternberg talked to Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times about impending free agent Carl Crawford: “We’re going to do everything we can to make sure he stays here longer.”

There was talk this winter about the Yankees interest in Crawford, but it was premature as he still has another year left on his contract with the Rays. I am sure the Yankees, if the opportunity is there, will sign Crawford in 2011.

The Yankees outfield would be tremendous defensively, but it would also add a lot of speed on the base paths, and I mean a lot! The Yankees would score well over a 1000 runs per year and the big 3, 4 and 5 hitters would have a ton of RBI.

It must be nice being a Yankees fan.

It’s kind of boring news to say the least. I was anticipating something much bigger from Cashman, but I guess it looks like they will play the cards they have. It’s a great hand to play because the Yankees have made improvements this year.

The Yankees are less than three months away when they play the Boston Red Sox at Fenway, April 4, 2010. It still seems so far away.

Yankees Transactions 2009 (The ones that were more meaningful)

December 23, 2009: Agreed to terms with DH-1B Nick Johnson to a one-year contract.

December 22, 2009: Traded OF Melky Cabrera, LHP Michael Dunn, RHP Arodys Vizcaino and cash considerations to Atlanta for RHP Javier Vazquez and LHP Boone Logan.

December 13, 2009: Chien-Ming Wang – SP/RP – Not offered contract and became free agent by NY Yankees (non-tendered)

December 10 2009: Andy Pettitte – SP – Signed as free agent by NY Yankees (one-year contract)

December 10 2009: Jamie Hoffmann – RF – Traded from Washington to NY Yankees (to complete 12/7 Brian Bruney deal)

December 9 2009: Curtis Granderson – CF – Traded from Detroit to NY Yankees (three-team, seven-player deal)

December 9 2009: Phil Coke – RP – Traded from NY Yankees to Detroit (three-team, seven-player deal)

December 9 2009: Austin Jackson – CF – Traded from NY Yankees to Detroit (three-team, seven-player deal)

December 9 2009: Ian Kennedy – SP – Traded from NY Yankees to Detroit (three-team, seven-player deal)

December 7 2009: Brian Bruney – RP – Traded from NY Yankees to Washington (for OF Jamie Hoffman)

The Yankees will be more active when the free agent market will be much richer with more studs in 2011. I can see it now, Carl Crawford to the Yankees.
