A.J. Burnett has been very, very short of spectacular. He has been a bust thus far and continues to hurt the Yankees. I wonder if he is willing to give up some of that guarantee money he has not come close to earning.

Like Ralph Kramden would put it, “he is a bum.” Burnett has been like a faucet, hot and cold, but more cold than anything else. The Yankees made a bad decision in signing this bum and Yankees fans would love nothing more but to see him out of New York, me included.

Burnett faced the White Sox and gave up 8 earned runs on 8 hits in 3.1 innings pitched. The Yankees lost 9-4. If you need a steal, Burnett is by far the easiest in baseball.

Who wants the bum? No one, and that is what the Yankees will have to live with for three more long years.

The worst part of watching the game last night was listening to Ken “Hawk” Harrelson, this guy is so freaking bias and dumb as a box of rocks. You watch when the other team is beating the White Sox, Hawk gets so quiet.

Hey Joe Girardi! When will you learn how to manage? You are so clueless it’s embarrassing.

I cheer for them out of pity only. I am a die hard Yankee fan and I am fortunate for that. I feel really sorry for Chicago Cubs fans who year after year are hoping and praying that one day, they will celebrate a championship.

The Cubs are out of contention to make the playoffs in 2010. I think the most promising thing that Cub fans can look forward to, is Lou Piniella leaving at the end of the season. Piniella is a deflated manager and has lost that fire over the last few years. He is by far the worst post game (next to Ozzie that is) interviewee in baseball.

The Cubs are having a horrible year and for a lot of reasons, but most significant, the pitching, which is ranked 21st in MLB. The hitting is not doing that great either, ranked 15th in the league.

The Cubs need to make some moves over the winter in order to keep pace with the Cardinals and Reds. I am not sure what moves they feel will make a difference.

The Lovable Losers haven’t won a World Series in 102 years. The last time they won, your grandparents were probably born (1908).

Cubs (47-63) and 15.5 games back from the Reds who are currently winning today’s game against the Cubs 10-4.

The included the ejections of both Guillen and Buehrle for protesting a pair of balks in the first three innings.

Joe West has been vocal this year, and it all started when he made a statement about the pace of the Yankees and Red Sox games. He called both teams a “disgrace to baseball.”

Ozzie Guillen always speaks his mind and he doesn’t pull any punches nor does he hold back words not suitable for TV in an attack on Joe West.

“Joe has been like that for a lot of years, and he’s always going to be like this,” Guillen said, dropping several expletives throughout a rant that’s certain to get a look from Major League Baseball. “I’m not going to change it, nobody is going to change it, but sometimes he thinks people pay to watch him umpire. He’s the type of guy that wants to control the game, and to me is one of the best umpires in the game, no doubt.

“But in the meanwhile, those years are on his shoulders and kind of heavy and showing people who he is. I deserve respect and the players deserve respect here, too.”

Mark Buehrle had a few words during a post game interview about Joe West.

“Once I got tossed I wanted to go say a few words and try to get my money’s worth and just kind of find out what did I do wrong to balk?” Buehrle said. “I think he’s too worried about promoting his CD (West is a country music singer and song writer with his own website) and I think he likes seeing his name in the papers a little bit too much instead of worrying about the rules.

“I’d like to find out what he called a balk on me. Your knee can cross over the rubber. I know your foot can’t and I didn’t do that. I watched the replays trying to see what it was called a balk and I have still have yet to see what I did.”

West said Buehrle balked both times.

I watched the game and there was no way Buehrle balked both times. It was Joe just being Joe.

Here are just a few of things Hawk said during the Yankees and White Sox games;

“Their guys get a bigger strike zone when their pitcher is at the hill and we don’t – No doubt about it.”

“The umpiring has gone downhill. That was a strike for sure.”

The Hawk needs to shut his mouth and try to call a game that we can all enjoy. Your good guys got spanked – face it.

The Hawk is more cheerleader than broadcaster. Why is Harrelson such a rabid Sox fan anyway? It’s weird. He should have been a fan when he was General Manager.

The Hawk often says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for minutes at a time, especially when the Sox are losing. He did this when the Yankees crushed the White Sox (12-3) on Sunday.

I can’t even comprehend more than half the things he says. Where does he come up with this stuff?

Here is some Hawkism from Heave the Hawk Website – http://www.heavethehawk.com/Hawkisms.html – Pronunciation: ho’kiz’um

I have heard at least half of them during the Yankees series over the weekend.

Another 95 dollar bill just bit the dust

Bad guys

Big hack, no contack

Can o’ corn

Catbird seat

C’mon, be a two strike hitter

Get foul…it won’t

Good speed aboard

He just missed that one

There are more and you can read them here.

In my whole life watching baseball (43 years), I never heard as much negativity towards the opposing team from a broadcaster as I did listening to the Hawk.

Next time I will play music during the next White Sox game.

The White Sox are (5-11) and last in the Central while the Cubs are (6-10) and are 5th in the NL Central. Both teams are just not good enough – point blank. You can argue all you want, but while Ozzie manages the Chicago White Sox you will not make the playoffs, I said it, there!

Ozzie Guillen is by far the less competent of the two managers. Lou Pinella is no rocket scientist, but he is a better manager than Ozzie in my opinion. Here’s a recent quote from Ozzie;

“I’m not worried. I would worry if the pitching staff were very bad. That’s a very, very tough situation. I went through it. I went through a point in the past…”

- Manager Ozzie Guillen, on his team’s slow start this season.

Ozzie here’s what you need to worry about; your team has given up 20 runs in the last two games and lost (12-0) against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday and (10-2) on Thursday. You are not worried about your pitching? Mark Buehrle got shellacked in the (12-0) loss. He gave up 6 earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Your team ERA is 4.53 and you’re going up against the Mariners in a 3 game series.

The Chicago Cubs are in a soft division with only the Cards being the class of that division. The Cubs have problems of their own and will need to get some offense going as they have a combined .253 team average.

Both teams need to get something going or Chicago fans will start needing Pepto-Bismol for the rest of the year. The only bright spots in Chicago are the Blackhawks and the Bulls, who are both in the playoffs.

Do you know what the facts are? I am guessing not. Hudson needs to watch what he suggests openly, because its the kind of thing that sets us back.

Quote from Orlando Hudson – “You see guys like Jermaine Dye without a job,” Minnesota Twins second baseman Orlando Hudson said Monday. “Guy with [27 home runs and 81 RBIs] and can’t get a job. Pretty much sums it up right there, no? You’ve got some guys who miss a year who can come back and get $5, $6 million, and a guy like Jermaine Dye can’t get a job. A guy like Gary Sheffield, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, can’t get a job.

Here are the facts that you fail to realize;

Dye turning down a one-year contract offer from the Washington Nationals.

Dye is 36 and on the decline. It’s not an investment teams want to make.

Dye spent the second half of 2009 in a deep slump from which he never emerged, batting .179 and slugging .297 while playing subpar defense in right field.

He is not worth $11.5 million salary and this is what many teams think he is expecting, it’s not happening.

I find this disturbing as we celebrate Jackie Robinson where every player honors Jackie Robinson by wearing his No. 42.

Joe West was upset, big deal. The game in question was between the Red Sox and Yankees which took three hours and 46 minutes to play. Joe called both teams a “disgrace to baseball.” Now it’s my turn to call it differently.

Joe West might be struggling with a little weight issue which in turn can cause major fatigue to the legs when umpiring a game that long. Joe West is obese and just look at his large double chin that resembles a Walrus. The guy is way out of shape to be in baseball period!

I am not trying to put the blame totally on Joe, the Yankees and Red Sox do take there time between pitches. They to need to pick up the pace, but to call two of the biggest franchises in sports a disgrace, is going a bit to far.

My advise to Joe, talk to the managers before the game and make sure they keep the pace of the game within reason or under three hours. What happens if it’s a high scoring game Joe? There’s nothing you can do about that.

Eat a salad and move on Joe West!

No one said that those who participate on Yahoo’s MLB Team Ranker are biased or insane, but I am starting to think otherwise and for good reason. How do you rank the White Sox #1 and the Indians #2? What are they putting in the food in Chicago and Cleveland?

The Yankees are ranked 7th and the Red Sox are ranked 9th since this post. The Yankees and Red Sox should be ranked in the top 5 without a doubt. They also have the Phillies ranked 10th which is ridicules!

There are over 4000 comments in the MLB Ranker section. I hope that none of the people who ranked the White Sox or the Indians are gamblers, because they’re in for a long season.

My 2 1/2 cents.

Who are your top 10?

You are ridiculous! Is this your way of telling readers you have a clue? You hate the Yankees and we all know that like the back of our hands. Why would Yahoo have such a biased writer on staff is beyond me, but then again, it’s Yahoo, the second fiddler to Google.

David Brown tries to call the Yankees 2009 World Series Championship season a fluke and bets on them to miss the playoffs. This is something that has only happened once in the last 15 years in the Bronx.

“Actually, what I said was, even if the Yankees stay healthy, they still won’t have enough to surpass the Rays and Red Sawx.” David, did you eat paint chips when you were a kid?

Here’s your AL East predictions from Duk and DB

AL East predicted order of finish:

Duk: 1. Yankees, 2. Red Sox, 3. Rays, 4. Orioles, 5. Blue Jays
DB: 1. Rays 2. Red Sox 3. Yankees 4. Orioles 5. Blue Jays

AL East MVP
Duk: Mark Teixeira, Yankees
DB: Evan Longoria, Rays

AL East Cy Young
Duk: Jon Lester, Red Sox
DB: Josh Beckett, Red Sox

AL East ROY
Duk: Brian Matusz, Orioles
DB: Wade Davis, Rays

Read the entire article here. I warn you that you may walk away a little dumber after reading it.

Milton Bradley, now playing for the Mariners is being penciled in as the cleanup hitter or until he gets suspended or benched which will more than likely happen to this dugout disease.

He lasted just 19 games batting cleanup with Chicago, batting .179 with just two home runs and five RBIs at cleanup. He hit just .257 overall with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs before getting suspended by the team for a run-in with his hitting coach. He later said the team and city mistreated him.

The Mariners can do a lot better than Bradley at cleanup. They do have Ken Griffey Jr. who is having himself a fine spring this year and still has a lot of pop in his bat. I mean 630 lifetime home runs is a pretty damn nice resume.

In time, the Mariners will realize that no matter what team this dugout disease plays for he will still be disruptive and hurt team moral.

Why teams keep on giving players like Bradley more lives than a cat is beyond my comprehension.

Good luck Mariners!
